UHF was a spin off of Option magazine, an alternative music publication where writer Lorraine Ali was a contributing editor. In the monthly car column, Lorraine Ali wrote humorous essays about her own love of vintage cars and about car culture in her native Los Angeles. In the columns, Lorraine Ali wrote about her barely road-worthy 1963 Ford Ranchero, her 1968 Ford ¾ ton with Yosemite Sam mud flaps and her mother’s Sun Raider camper, which Ali crashed two weeks after borrowing it. The column by Lorraine Ali was personal and funny, and hopefully, those UHF archives will surface somewhere online soon.
